The picturesque lakeside city of Lago Vista and Jonestown area is located on the North Shore of Lake Travis. The city has more than 8300 inhabitants and is part of the magnificent Texas Hill Country. The area has spectacular scenery, diverse wildlife, a lake and an extremely soothing environment. The area is not only a business hub but also has various high quality educational institutions, add to this there are property owners associations and many parks near the lake for the inhabitants of Lago Vista. There are also various golf courses, performing arts, wineries, marinas and many more attractions.
The private single runway airport of Lago Vista served as the main base of relief operations for the victims of the Hurricane Katrina in the month of September 2005. Many small planes from various parts of the country and some even from Mexico used the airport to pick up food and other essential relief supplies and deliver them to people who did not get the initial government relief supplies. The airport was the only GAC airport in United States that supported such flights
The State capital Austin is located 30 miles to the southeast of the city can be easily accessed by the Cap Metro Metrorail system. The Hill Country is also easily accessible from the city.

The city had 4,507 inhabitants, 1,944 households and 1,364 families. The population density of the city was 517.3 per sq. mile. The city had 2,155 housing units at 247.4 households per sq. mile.

The students in the city go to schools under the Lago Vista Independent School District. Matt Underwood is the current Superintendent.
